PJL actions regarding COVID-19

By

Port Jersey Logistics

The health and safety of our employees is our primary concern and we are working diligently together to get through this world wide situation. We are monitoring the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in our area. Protecting the health, safety and well-being our employees and maintaining business operations are our top priorities.

At Port Jersey we are practicing safe behaviors which should allow us to operate, keep people working, and service our customers. Food is primarily what we handle and to the best of our ability we want to ensure the continued safe storage, handling and delivery of this essential cargo. We are confident in our ability to continue to provide logistics services during this public health challenge. Â

The below memo is from our Compliance & Safety Manager, Ira Pachter. It describes the steps we have taken. As situations change we will continue to communicate next steps.

In addition to what is outlined below, those that can work from home have successfully tested and verified their connections and will be ready when necessary. We are also planning a split-team scenario which would provide for on-site coverage as well as off-site coverage on a rotating basis.

Port Jersey Family,

Cooperation. Attention. Persistence. Is what I am asking from all.

Cooperation in dealing with this global dilemma. Cooperation with any requests given by Senior Management, Human Resources and the Safety Department.
Paying attention to yourself and others. Paying attention to guidance from Local, State and Federal agencies.
Persistently following guidance given, which is:

    Wash your hands regularly.
If you are sick, STAY HOME!
Cover your mouth if you sneeze or cough.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth if you have not washed your hands.
Social distancing. Minimize close contact. Don't congregate in confined areas.

We are trying our best to be proactive in preventing possible transmission. As a company, we are doing the following:

Group meetings have been cancelled until further notice. Meetings will be held via web conference.
All outside meetings as well as scheduled visitors have been postponed and when needed will be held via web conference.
We are working to provide the necessary sanitation supplies to adequately cover all our employees. More hand sanitizer is arriving 3/22.
We are suggesting, if you feel uncomfortable eating in a group setting, you can eat at your work station, car, or outside.
All corporate travel has been cancelled until further notice.

You can also go on-line and view the CDC, WHO and OSHA websites.
  Regards,

Ira Pachter | Compliance & Safety Manager
